More Details About 3/4″ AR500 Steel Plate

TongHui 3/4-inch thick AR500 wear-resistant steel plate is priced per metric ton, with a spot base price ranging from $550 to $650 per metric ton and a minimum order quantity (MOQ) of 1 metric ton, meeting the conventional procurement MOQ requirements of the industry. Volume-based discounts are available for bulk orders of 20 metric tons or more, with the unit price as low as $500 to $520 per metric ton, catering to the large-scale procurement needs of enterprises.
If value-added services such as plasma cutting and custom welding are required, an additional surcharge of $50 to $80 per metric ton will be applied on top of the base price, and the machining precision will not compromise the original performance of the steel plate. This quotation is on FOB Chinese ports basis, excluding tariffs, ocean freight and destination miscellaneous fees. The actual transaction price is subject to fluctuations in international steel raw material prices and customized order specifications, and shall be subject to the final negotiated and signed contract.
  • Nominal thickness: 3/4 inch (i.e. 0.75 inch)
  • Hardness range: 477–534 BHN (Brinell Hardness Number), with stable performance complying with relevant ASTM industry standards
  • Common dimensions: Available widths include 48 inches and 60 inches; common lengths cover 96 inches, 120 inches and 240 inches, and can be customized as required
  • Machining accuracy: Cutting tolerance is controlled within ±0.03 inches to ensure assembly compatibility
  • Surface condition: Treated by hot-rolled pickling process, with oxide-free and clean surface for easy machining
  • Welding compatibility: Suitable for conventional welding processes such as shielded metal arc welding and gas metal arc welding, with qualified welded joint strength
  • Hardness & Wear Resistance: Boasts a stable Brinell hardness of 477–534 BHN, in compliance with ASTM standards. Its wear resistance far exceeds that of ordinary carbon steel, effectively withstanding material scouring and friction loss.
  • Impact Resistance: The 3/4-inch thickness enhances impact load resistance. It can withstand hard object collisions under heavy-duty working conditions without easy deformation or cracking.
  • Machinability: Compatible with conventional processes such as plasma cutting and arc welding, featuring high-strength welded joints. Custom-sized cutting is available to meet diverse installation requirements.
  • Shooting Range Sector: Its high hardness enables it to resist bullet impacts, with no easy deformation or edge chipping. It is the preferred material for manufacturing target plates and target frames, suitable for various shooting training scenarios.
  • Mining Machinery Sector: It is used to produce wear-prone components such as hopper liners and conveyor scraper blades. It can withstand ore impact and friction, extending equipment service life and cutting down maintenance costs.
  • Engineering Machinery Sector: It can be processed into excavator buckets, bulldozer blades and crusher chambers. It is well-suited for heavy-duty operating environments, enhancing the wear resistance of equipment.
  • Protective Engineering Sector: It is adopted to make equipment protective covers and anti-collision barriers, playing an impact-resistant protective role in metallurgical, construction and other scenarios.

Q:Why is AR500 steel so strong?

A:AR500 steel owes its exceptional strength and wear resistance to two core factors: optimized alloy composition and precision heat treatment. It contains carefully proportioned carbon, manganese, and chromium, which enhance hardness and structural stability. The steel undergoes a quenching-and-tempering process, forming a dense tempered martensite microstructure that balances high hardness (477–534 BHN) and impact toughness. Unlike ordinary carbon steel, this structure resists deformation and abrasion under heavy loads. Additionally, strict compliance with ASTM standards ensures consistent mechanical properties across batches, making AR500 ideal for high-stress applications like armor plating and heavy machinery components.
